Dignity of Earth and Sky

Chamberlain, SD 57325

United States

"Dignity of Earth and Sky" is located at the Chamberlain Welcome Center, at a rest area in South Dakota between mile markers 263 and 265 along I-90. The map marker is slightly off. This 50-foot tall statue was created to honor the Dakota and Lakota peoples, and is a beautiful area to get out and read the history of the area, take photos, and appreciate the beauty. From the "Travel South Dakota" site, "The quilt’s 128 stainless steel diamonds feature color-changing pieces that glitter in the sun and move with the wind, creating a rippling effect. At night, LED lights cause the diamonds to illuminate the dark sky, casting a peaceful glow that’s easily visible from the interstate." To find: type the location name into your Maps. The location name worked for me in Google Maps, but even the coordinates would not work in the mapping software that I reference for my locations.
